Notice of public meeting and participant funding offerings for the review of two regulatory oversight reports

July 3, 2018 – Ottawa, ON

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist Indigenous peoples, members of the public and stakeholders to participate in the review of two regulatory oversight reports at a public meeting on December 12–13, 2018. The two reports are:

  • The Regulatory Oversight Report on Uranium Processing and Nuclear Processing Facilities in Canada: 2017. This report presents CNSC staff’s assessment of the safety performance of licensees and their facilities authorized by the CNSC for the processing of uranium and nuclear substances in 2017.   • The Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium Mines, Mills, Historic and Decommissioned Sites in Canada: 2017. This report presents CNSC staff’s assessment of the safety performance of licensees and their facilities authorized by the CNSC for the mining and milling of uranium in 2017. It will also provide an update on the status of historic and decommissioned sites in Canada. Read more .

Through the CNSC’s Participant Funding Program (PFP), the following funding is being made available for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific interventions to the Commission:

The deadline for submitting a completed PFP application form to the CNSC for the regulatory oversight reports is August 31, 2018.

The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
