Canada’s nuclear regulator invites media to attend Part 2 of the public Commission hearing for the proposed Near Surface Disposal Facility in Deep River, Ontario

OTTAWA, Ontario, May 24, 2022 – The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites the media to attend Part 2 of the public hearing for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL) proposed Near Surface Disposal Facility in Deep River, Ontario.
Part 2 follows the first part of the public hearing held on February 22, 2022. This hearing will take place in Pembroke, Ontario, and will also be available via webcast. All documents related to Parts 1 and 2 of the public Commission hearing are posted online.
The agenda for Part 2 of this public hearing will include presentations from:
- CNL regarding the application
- CNSC staff regarding recommendations
- Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public, and stakeholders who will deliver information to the Commission through interventions
Date: May 30 to June 3, 2022
Time: 9 a.m. (EST) each day
Location: Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre, 1 International Drive Pembroke, Ontario
Registration: Media must pre-register to attend the hearing in person, as space is limited. You are asked to notify the CNSC via email of your intent to attend, no later than May 27 at 9 a.m. (EST).
Join the webcast: Pre-registration is not required to join the webcast.
