The OFOVC is a federal institution that operates at arm’s length from the Government of Canada.
We work to provide a voice for victims of crime at the federal level and to ensure that the federal government meets its commitments to victims of crime.
The Ombudsperson reports on the activities of the OFOVC to the Minister of Justice annually, via an annual report. The Minister of Justice shall table the annual report in Parliament and once tabled, the annual report may be published.
The Ombudsperson may also issue special reports, with or without recommendations, at any time concerning any review or other matter that is within its mandate.
