Backgrounder: Governments of Canada and PEI invest in safe and efficient roadways

Backgrounder

Today, the governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island announced joint support for a series of road improvements as part of the Prince Edward Island DOTIE (Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy) 2018 project. Work includes five roadway improvements on the province’s National Highway System and National Roads and Community Connectors.

The Government of Canada is contributing up to $1,184,361 towards this project, representing 50% of total eligible project costs. The Government of Prince Edward Island will provide the remainder of funding.

List of roadway improvements part of DOTIE 2018:

Route 2 – Wellington Centre, PEI

 

Resurfacing and rehabilitation of 1,200 metres of road.

 

2.

Route 2 – New Annan Turn Lanes

 

Resurfacing, rehabilitation and widening of 500 metres of road, as well as the addition of a west bound left turn onto Route 120 Wilmot Valley Road, an east bound right turn lane onto Route 120 Wilmot Valley Road, and an east bound acceleration lane from Route 120 Wilmot Valley Road.

Route 2 – Hazel Grove

Resurfacing and rehabilitation of 1,300 metres of road.

 

4.

Route 124 – Urbainville, PEI

 

Resurfacing, rehabilitation and widening of 1,300 metres of road.

 

5.

Route 150 – Union, PEI

Resurfacing, rehabilitation, and widening of 500 metres of road along Route 150; replacement of a culvert bridge structure.
