Miramichi Cross Country Ski Club expansion will boost recreational opportunities

Miramichi, New Brunswick, August 8, 2018—Investing in recreational infrastructure promotes healthy, active lifestyles and brings communities together.

Pat Finnigan, Member of Parliament for Miramichi–Grand Lake, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Bill Fraser, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, today announced $657,000 in federal-provincial funding for the expansion of the Miramichi Cross Country Ski Club.

The Government of Canada is contributing $360,000 to this project and the Government of New Brunswick is providing $297,000.

The project consists of constructing a new building to operate the Cross Country Ski Club, incorporating a biathlon range into the trails, as well as improving existing trails and making them easier to groom. It will enable more residents and tourists to benefit from the club, promoting healthy lifestyles and community engagement, and creating economic prosperity for the region.
