Backgrounder: Prince Edward Island residents and visitors to benefit from 16 new recreational, cultural, water and wastewater projects

Backgrounder

Joint federal, provincial, and municipal funding, will support 16 projects in Eastern PEI, including recreational and cultural projects, and water and wastewater improvements.

The Government of Canada is investing over $5.3 million total towards these 16 projects through the Community, Culture and Recreation Stream (CCRIS), the Green Infrastructure Stream (GIS), and the New Building Canada Fund – National and Regional Projects (NRP) funding program. The Government of Prince Edward Island is contributing over $6.2 million in total. Municipal and community funding is also being provided for fourteen of these projects with municipalities or not-for-profit organizations making up the remainder of project costs.
