Backgrounder: The Government of Canada confirms the appointment of Catherine Lavoie as Chair of the Board of Directors of The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated

Backgrounder

Ms. Catherine Lavoie was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI), effective December 18, 2020. Her familiarity with the organization, her expertise and her leadership, which are widely recognized by stakeholders, will be key to ensure the continued success of JCCBI.

As Chair of the JCCBI Board of Directors, Ms. Lavoie guides the strategic orientation and overall management of the corporation. She is also involved in the management of organizational resources, services, contracts, stakeholder relations, performance monitoring and risk management, including safety and environmental risks.

Since 2015, Ms. Lavoie has been President and CEO of the Centre d’expertise et de recherche en infrastructures urbaines. She also has more than 15 years of experience managing a number of associations in the concrete and asphalt industry. Earlier in her career, she worked as a quality control engineer in various industries both in Canada and abroad.

Ms. Lavoie joined the JCCBI Board of Directors in 2017, and in June 2018 she became Vice‑Chair. She has also worked for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities since 2017 and the Canadian Centre for Climate Services since 2019.

In addition to her background in leadership and business governance, Ms. Lavoie holds a Master of Science from the University of Laval and a Bachelor of Geological Engineering from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi.
