Samuel De Champlain Bridge: Rainbow Illumination to Mark the Start of Deconfinement in Quebec

Montreal, Quebec, May 28, 2021— Tonight, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge will light up with rainbow colours to mark the start of deconfinement in Montreal and elsewhere in Quebec. The illumination will take place from sunset until 9:30p.m.

“From the early days of the pandemic, the Samuel De Champlain Bridge has shown support for Montrealers and all Canadians, and has underlined their solidarity and resilience through its special display of rainbow lights. In the same spirit, this popular illumination will light up once again today to mark the beginning of deconfinement in Quebec, which compliance with health measures and vaccination have now made possible.”

—The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities

Note: After the special illumination concludes at 9:30 p.m., the architectural lighting will return to the blue and green shades used during the birds’ migratory period, which runs until June 15.
