As a new Senior Business Officer in PacifiCan’s Prince George office, Christina is working with business and community leaders to stimulate economic development in Northern B.C. In this conversation, she shares more about her new role and the exciting things happening in the North.

How did you arrive at PacifiCan?

I have almost 10 years of experience at the municipal economic development level in Prince George. My core work focused on building resident and business attraction campaigns and developing programs that support population and business retention. I am passionate about community and business development, downtown revitalization, environmental sustainability, social inclusivity, and connecting people who call the North home with new opportunities.

What interested you about PacifiCan?

I am excited to see the federal government establishing a presence in regions across B.C. It will give people with big ideas who live in smaller communities easier access to funding sources and help them realize their dreams. PacifiCan offers me the opportunity to use the knowledge and connections I have developed as a municipal economic developer to ensure these people are connecting with the right programs and the chance to support economic growth at a regional level.

What do you do in a typical day?

As a Senior Business Officer, I am a convenor, advisor, investor and pathfinder. PacifiCan is establishing a presence across the province, connecting with stakeholders and raising awareness about the organization. Hopefully, we’ll help people gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the communities we serve.
