August 11, 2016                                Prescott, Ontario                                        Parks Canada Agency

Two important elements of any Scottish celebration are food and drink, so Fort Wellington National Historic Site will be hosting a scotch tasting with food pairings on September 1st, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sylvain Bouffard, a retired Colonel of the Canadian Armed Forces and president of Just a Wee Dram Scotch Whisky Seminars, is back to talk about Scotch whisky making and a variety of whisky sampling techniques.

This event is an opportunity for visitors to delve into the Scottish heritage of the region, where many Scottish troops were stationed during the War of 1812. In addition to sensational Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, each round of tastings will be accompanied by an “amuse-bouche” to enhance the flavours of each sample. To make the experience even more authentic, the whisky will be served in special crystal sampling glasses imported from Scotland.

National historic sites reflect the rich and varied heritage of our nation and provide an opportunity for Canadians to learn more about our diverse history. Developing new and innovative programs and services allows more Canadians to experience the history of Fort Wellington National Historic Site and learn about its connection to our military history.
