The Louis S. St. Laurent National Historic Site management plan was tabled in Parliament yesterday. Management plans are a requirement of the Canadian National Parks Act and guide the management of Parks Canada sites. The plans are reviewed every ten years.
National historic sites reflect the rich and varied heritage of our nation.
The new Louis S. St. Laurent National Historic Site management plan describes the following key strategies:
- To be an important place for the community and the dynamism of the regional tourism offer
- To offer a visitor experience based on authenticity
To develop this management plan, Parks Canada consulted with the public as well as with partners and local and regional stakeholders. The comments received were taken into account and incorporated into the plan. Through this plan, Parks Canada meets its promise to protect and showcase Canada’s cultural heritage while giving Canadians the opportunity to discover our diverse history in new and interesting ways.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the Government of Canada invites Canadians to experience nature and learn more about our history.
