Nahanni National Park Reserve offers new river guiding licence
News release
Parks Canada providing an opportunity for a new operator for world-famous South Nahanni River
February 25, 2019 Fort Simpson, NWT Parks Canada Agency
Parks Canada is the country's largest tourism provider and we are committed to providing visitors with exceptional and meaningful experiences at our places. Today, Parks Canada is pleased to announce that it is seeking a new river guiding operator to offer wilderness adventures on the world-famous South Nahanni River in Nahanni National Park Reserve. This opportunity is in line with the Guidelines for Guided River Outfitting in Nahanni and Nááts’įhch’oh National Park Reserves.
Ecological integrity is the first priority in the management of national parks. As part of the process for developing Nahanni National Park Reserve’s new Guidelines, the park’s co-operative management team undertook extensive consultations. In the course of this review, it was determined that there was room for an additional licence to be awarded without impacting the ecological integrity of the park or the wilderness experience for which Nahanni is famous.
The number of available licences is limited in order to safeguard the ecological integrity of the park, so it can be enjoyed by future generations.
Nahanni National Park Reserve offers world-class paddling destinations located in a remote part of Canada’s Northwest Territories. A new licensed outfitter provides options for Canadians and visitors from the around the world to discover and connect with the wonder of this world-class paddling destination.
All applicants that meet the criteria laid out in the Business Licensing Policy for Nahanni National Park Reserve are eligible to apply for any open business licences. Applications can be obtained by emailing nahanniinfo@canada.com.
