Minister Olszewski to announce federal support under Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy to bolster defence manufacturing capacity in Alberta

February 18, 2026 – Edmonton, Alberta – The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), will highlight the Government’s most recent Defence Industrial Strategy announcement, which strengthens Canada’s industrial foundations, security, and economic resilience by aligning long-term defence investments with domestic industrial capacity.
Minister Olszewski will also announce federal support to enhance and strengthen Canada’s defence sector capacities while creating high-quality jobs and economic growth in the Edmonton area.
Joining Minister Olszewski will be Mike Melle, President of Logican Technologies Inc. and Chris Cassin, Chief Operating Officer with Zero Point Cryogenics.
