Intake period: Limited time period
Expressions of Interest will be accepted on a timed intake until February 1, 2025, or until funding has been fully committed or otherwise announced here. Applicants are encouraged to submit their proposal as soon as possible for consideration.
All projects must be completed by March 31, 2027.
The Prairie Performing Arts Initiative (PPAI) is part of Canada’s budget 2024 commitment to create vibrant and inclusive communities. PPAI provides $20 million in one-time support over three years (2024/25 to 2026/27).
Program objective
The initiative provides non-repayable contributions directly to eligible professional performing arts organizations to support projects that contribute to the financial sustainability and growth of the performing arts sector across the Prairies.
Available assistance
PrairiesCan contributions must normally range between $100,000 to a maximum of $750,000 per project over a maximum of 3 years in non-repayable contributions to not-for-profit organizations.
Maximum PrairiesCan funding may exceed $750,000 in cases where:
- the project benefits multiple performing arts entities comprising partnerships, and/or
- the collaboration provides new approaches and a plan for broader application to other organizations in the sector
Recipients will not normally receive funding for more than one project.
An organization may receive funding, on an exceptional basis, for a maximum of two projects where:
- at least one project includes participation within a collaborative initiative providing benefits to multiple organizations in the performing arts sector.
