Sign-in help and account management for your PrairiesCan funding application(s)

Important: the sign-in method is changing

The PrairiesCan / PacifiCan portal is transitioning from using GCKey or an Interac Sign-In Partner for user authentication, to using CanadaLogin.

To keep access to your existing user profile, you must:

  • Sign in to the portal at least once between April 22 and July 31, 2026
  • Link your profile to CanadaLogin during that sign-in

Learn more about CanadaLogin.

Note: Do not create a new user profile if you already have one. Creating a new profile will prevent you from accessing your existing applications and information.

Sign-in help

If you created your profile on or after April 22, 2026

You are already using CanadaLogin.

If you created your profile before April 22, 2026

You are likely using GCKey.

If you have forgotten your GCKey sign-in password

  1. Proceed to create your new CanadaLogin credentials by following the guidance on this page
  2. In the course of this registration process, you will be presented with a screen requesting that you sign in to your GCKey account
  3. Do not try to sign in at this stage; instead, click “Forgot your password?”
  4. Enter your username
  5. Answer your recovery questions
  6. Create a new password

Do not create a new GCKey. That would create a new user profile and will not have access to the work you have already completed.

If you have forgotten your GCKey username

Option 1: Use email recovery
  1. If you registered a unique email address with your GCKey for the email recovery function, use Sign-In Canada’s Recover Username
  2. Enter your email address to receive your username
Option 2: You haven’t set up email recovery
  1. Contact Prairies Economic Development Canada
  2. Request an invitation code to regain access

If you are linked to an organization account, your portal administrator may also be able to help.

If you have created a new GCKey and can’t see your previously entered information

You may have accidentally created a duplicate profile.

What to do:

  • Contact Prairies Economic Development Canada to request an invitation code
  • Be prepared to verify your identity (we will ask you questions from the user profile you have created before we give you access to it).
  • Use the code to reconnect your original profile

You can continue using your current profile temporarily, but your previous data will not appear until access is restored.

Account management

Definition of an account

An account belongs to an organization (business or not-for-profit), not an individual.

  • Multiple users can access the same account
  • Users can collaborate on applications
  • Access is controlled by permissions

How to request an account

  • Log in to the portal
  • From the Dashboard, go to Create Submission
  • Submit an Account Registration form
  • Sign and return the Portal Online Agreement and Client Authorization form (sent by email)
  • Your organization designates one or more portal administrators

If your account has not yet been approved

It can take up to 10 business days for accounts to be approved from the point we receive the signed documents noted above. Upon account authorization, your portal administrators will receive an email notification informing them of their access.

If your request to be associated to an account has not been approved

Your organization’s portal administrator is responsible for approving new users of the account. You should contact your organization’s portal administrator.

Why you might need more than one user profile

You will need more than one user profile when you are working on more than one organization’s account.

For example: If your user profile is attached to ABC organization’s account, your user profile can only be used to conduct business for ABC organization’s account. If you want to submit information for an application that is not associated to ABC’s account, you would need a different user profile attached to the other organization’s account.

A user profile may or may not be attached to an account.

Note: If you need more than one user profile, each profile must be linked to a different CanadaLogin sign-in upon transitioning your accounts. While an email was optional for GCKey, it is mandatory for CanadaLogin. Additionally, it must be a unique email address. To facilitate this, CanadaLogin supports using email aliases so a user can create separate sign-ins while still receiving updates in one email inbox. Setting up an email alias is managed by your organization and email provider. The steps required may vary depending on your organization’s security settings and internal IT policies.
