Data notes
Data for 2024 excludes cases that have been previously diagnosed outside of Canada (e.g., prior to immigration) or in another province or territory, when known.
Data presented do not account for age and sex rate variations between provinces and territories.
Note that for Manitoba cases, information collected in 2024 about heterosexual sex as a route of exposure or transmission is not reportable in a compatible format. As such, these cases were assigned to other exposure categories; however, heterosexual sex is an important factor in HIV transmission in Manitoba.
If discrepancies exist between data summarized and provincial or territorial reports, the most recent provincial or territorial report should be utilized.
TR: territories, AT: Atlantic provinces.
