Firearm collection timeline in Canada: Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program

The information below provides a general overview of when and where firearms will be collected.

Only firearm owners who declared their prohibited firearms during the national declaration period—and were notified that their declarations were approved—are eligible to participate in the collection and compensation process.

Please note that all dates are approximate and may change.

Important: Do not bring your firearm(s) to a police detachment or other designated collection site without having made an appointment in the program web portal or by phone for paper-based declarations. Your firearms must be packaged in your transportation kit to bring them to your confirmed appointment.

However, individuals who live in Alberta or Saskatchewan should consult their provincial government for laws or regulations put in place that may impede or limit their participation in the program.
