Firearm validation for individuals
Validation process
Before your payment is issued, your claim will be validated to ensure that:
- firearms turned in match what was submitted in your claim, including quantities, makes, models and serial numbers (if applicable)
- firearms are "complete" and assembled to be eligible for compensation; and
- all deactivation and shipment (if applicable) records submitted as part of your claim are accurate
Once all validations are complete:
- your claim will be processed for payment. See the compensation process for more information; and
- turned in firearms will be destroyed
Any items turned in to the program that are not included on the list of firearms for individuals will not be returned and will be destroyed without compensation.

After you have submitted your claim and turned in your firearms, you can track the status of your claim through your online portal account.
