Statement by Patrick Borbey, President of the Public Service Commission of Canada

Statement

Gatineau, Quebec (December 9, 2019) — The President of the Public Service Commission of Canada, Patrick Borbey, issued the following statement today:

“On behalf of all current and former employees of the Public Service Commission (PSC), I wish to extend condolences to the family and friends of Edgar Gallant, who was President of the PSC from 1976 to 1985. Mr. Gallant firmly believed that a professional and non-partisan public service is one of the fundamental institutions of a healthy democracy. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Gallant championed linguistic duality to ensure that Canadians would be served in the official language of their choice. He played a key role in ensuring that Canada's public service would continue to lead the world in exemplifying these values.”
