The percentile indicates how the score of one test-taker compares to the scores of others. This is done using test norms based on a large group of previous test-takers (a normative sample). For example, a percentile score of 60 means the applicant has out-performed 60% of test-takers in the normative sample, placing the applicant in the top 40%. The higher the percentile score, the better a test-taker has performed relative to others.
