Administrative Burden Baseline: 2023
In its Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, the government committed to build on the efforts of the Paperwork Burden Reduction Initiative by requiring departments, through the Administrative Burden Baseline, to provide a count of the requirements in federal regulations that impose an administrative burden on business.
All federal regulations that are administered by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) that have requirements that impose administrative burden on business are identified below. The total 2023 count is 507.
Between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, there was a net increase of 9 new fields added to the application for registration, security assessment, and exemption from registration forms. Therefore, PSPC's administrative burden count increased from 498 to 507.
No changes have been made to the Controlled Goods Regulations nor the related forms since June 30, 2022. As a result, the department’s administrative burden count remained unchanged at 507 for the period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
