The Government of Canada does not disclose the amounts paid to individual media outlets through its agency of record. This is considered confidential. It could interfere with contractual negotiations of the Government of Canada and impact the competitive position of a third party.

Previous annual reports can be viewed and downloaded on the Government of Canada Publications website.

Release date of the annual report

The annual report on Government of Canada advertising activities is released on the last business day in January.

Advertising reporting requirement

PSPC must produce an annual report on our advertising activities as described in the Directive on the Management of Communications. The first report was produced for the 2002 to 2003 fiscal year.

Reporting process

The annual report takes between 6 and 8 months to complete. It starts after institutions receive final invoices for their advertising expenditures.

Over 80 individual government institutions listed in Schedule I, Schedule I.1 and Schedule II of the Financial Administration Act report their advertising activities to PSPC.
