Calls for proposals

We are seeking proposals from organizations or businesses on how some of the properties listed in the Canada Public Land Bank can be used to create new, affordable, sustainable, accessible and socially inclusive housing. With the land bank, housing providers may access land through different types of transactions, such as long-term lease at a discount.

Canada Lands Company

Canada Lands Company has several of its properties listed in the Canada Public Land Bank. As well, Canada Lands Company has other opportunities available.

National Capital Commission

The National Capital Commission has launched a call for proposals for 1 property listed in the Canada Public Land Bank:

  • Ottawa – 1200 Ledbury Avenue

Closed calls for proposals

Various calls for proposals for the following properties have closed, and the evaluation processes are underway:

  • Edmonton – Village at Griesbach – Sir Arthur Currie Way
  • Calgary – Currie – Dieppe Avenue Southwest, Site 1
  • Calgary – Currie – Bessborough Drive and Quesnay Wood Drive
  • Ottawa – Wateridge Village – 370 Codd’s Road
  • Ottawa – Wateridge Village – 800 Winisik Street
  • Ottawa – Wateridge Village – Tawadina Road and Wanaki Road
  • Gatineau – 210 Laurier Street

Selection of proponents

The following properties, which have undergone an initial request for expressions of interest and are now moving to the next steps in the process, will be offered to the market in 2025:

  • Calgary – Currie – Normandy Drive and Breskens Street Southwest
  • Ottawa – 552 Booth Street
  • Dartmouth – Shannon Park – 15 Iroquois Drive, Site 1

A separate initial evaluation process has closed for the following properties:

  • Toronto – Arbo – 1350 Sheppard Avenue West
  • Montréal – 125 Houde Street

All proponents that meet the minimum requirements will be invited to the next stage of this process. In Toronto, that process will begin soon, and in Montréal, in mid-2025.

The call for housing solutions will be used to:

  • solicit feedback on the Canada Public Land Bank
  • inform future versions
  • gather information
  • develop future request for proposal processes for the Canada Public Land Bank
