Key priorities

Secretariat of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians’ top priorities for 2023-24 were as follows:

  • Supported the completion of the Committee’s 2022 Annual Report.
  • Supported the completion of the Committee’s Special Report on the Federal Policing Mandate of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
  • Supported the completion of the Committee’s Special Report on Foreign Interference in Canada’s Democratic Processes and Institutions.
  • Supported the completion of a special report on an intelligence activity.
  • Provided transition material to brief and onboard two new Committee members.
  • Supporting the Committee’s review of the challenges associated with the lawful interception of communications by the security and intelligence community.
  • Supporting the Committee’s deliberations on its forthcoming review cycle.
  • Supporting the Committee’s engagement with the security and intelligence community, international partners and stakeholders, including academics and nongovernmental organizations, to help build a broader perspective on the issues facing the security and intelligence community.
  • Supporting the Committee’s engagement with Parliament on the NSICOP Act five-year review, as required by the NSICOP Act.
