Job Summary
The Intelligence Analyst II is responsible for conducting research and analysis, and for the production of analytical reports and products in support of investigations and the provision of intelligence to clients and decision makers.
Major responsibilities include:
- Provide intelligence analysis on complex/priority files to support the achievement of the assigned unit's mandate.
- Produce analytical intelligence products on current and emerging issues, with a nexus to Canada, in response to tasking from operations and external clients; contribute to discussions on production prioritization and proactively recommend topics of interest/concern related to assigned area.
- Independently or as a member of a project team, participate in briefings directed towards decision makers, foreign officers and other government clients.
- Collaborate with key partners and contribute advice and content to various forums engaged in research and analysis, or requiring information.
- Deliver presentations on topics of expertise directed towards Service management and other external stakeholders.
- Advise/guide and mentor new analysts and participate in the peer review of analytical products; review draft reports and provide recommendations for enhancement/correction.
- Develop and maintain a specialized knowledge and expertise, and keep apprised of developments in relevant threat landscape, geopolitical situation and operational events of significance related to assigned area
Education
- Undergraduate degree and 5 years of relevant experience*
The undergraduate degree is to be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
Any higher level of education (i.e.: Masters, Doctorate) in a related field of study could be recognized as experience
Experience
*Experience is defined as:
- Researching, integrating, evaluating and analyzing information and data related to an area of specialization identified for the position to create intelligence or national security-related analytical products. Experience as an intelligence analyst also requires that the information and data that the applicant evaluated and analyzed as part of their regular duties was intelligence (ex: HUMINT, SIGINT, OSINT).
- Authoring complex** analytic products on current and emerging national security and intelligence subjects / topics relevant to an area of specialization identified for the position.
- Preparing and delivering presentations and verbal briefings to internal and external decision makers, including at the senior*** executive level.
Complex** is defined as relating to matters that have at least two (2) of the following characteristics: involve multiple issues, require coordination across a number of stakeholders, or that have a significant impact on CSIS or external audiences.
Senior executive level*** is defined a EX-3 (Director General) or above

Assets
An asset qualification is a qualification which can enhance the ability to perform the work based on current and future business requirements, but which is not strictly required. Positions will be staffed based on the selection decision principle and operational priorities.
- Mentoring and/or coaching junior employees
- Experience with national security investigations.
- Knowledge of core subject matter of related to CSIS and ITAC.
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with a variety of stakeholders within the Canadian security & intelligence community.
