Job Summary
As the Reviewer/Analyst, ATIP, you will:
- Administer and coordinate the delivery of timely responses to Access to Information Act and Privacy Act (ATIP) requests submitted under the ATIP legislation to the Service on a broad range of issues.
- Interpret and prioritize requests by analyzing their exact nature, validity, legislative time frames, and the appropriate strategies and sources for responding to them and make recommendations on the information received according to ATIP legislation.
- Act as a resource person by liaising with requesters, government departments, foreign agencies, employees, branches, media, lawyers, members of the public to provide recommendations when consulted on matters related to national security and the interpretation and application of ATIP legislation.
- Research a wide variety of information sources and program areas by exploiting them for the purpose of identifying relevant records.
- Identify potential degree of impact to national security and CSIS operations in consultation with appropriate operational areas.
- Conduct the relevant consultations with Service branches or other government departments and foreign agencies by confirming national security concerns and issues.
- Remain current on ATIP legislation and Treasury Board policies, directives and guidelines.
- Negotiate with the Information and Privacy Commissioners by developing strategies for the resolution of complaints.
Education
- Undergraduate degree and two (2) years of experience*
- Community college diploma and four (4) years of experience*
- High school diploma and eight (8) years of experience*
The Undergraduate degree/College Diploma must be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
Any higher level of education (i.e.: Masters, Doctorate) in a related field of study could be recognized as experience.
Experience
* Experience acquired within the last five (5) years in interpreting and applying legislation and/or policy Candidate must also possess:
- Two (2) years of experience in managing a number of files concurrently, including managing time sensitive files
- Two (2) years of experience in conducting analysis and providing recommendations
- Two (2) years of experience conducting research using various databases
- Two (2) years of experience in consulting and collaborating with internal or external stakeholders
