CSIS Director Statement regarding the release of CSIS's 2014-16 Public Report
The Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), Michel Coulombe, issued the following statement regarding the CSIS Public Report released today:
“I am pleased to release the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Public Report for 2014-16, announced to Parliamentarians today by the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Ralph Goodale.
CSIS recognizes that a modern organization must communicate using modern means. A key element of the organization’s vision is to communicate our role to Canadians, so they may attain a better understanding of CSIS. That is one of the reasons why we have moved from the traditional printed public report to a digital web-based report with a focus on delivering the information in a more visual and engaging manner.
While the report still contains all of the details of previous printed reports, along with additional information, our objective in moving to a digital report is to help facilitate making information about CSIS and our mandate available and understood by the Canadian public.
Canadians are well aware that national security threats are fast-moving, complex and dynamic. Increased public awareness in the realm of national security is vital to our organization. This public report provides an enhanced view of our priorities, our people and our areas of responsibility.
I encourage all Canadians to view our newly released report.”
