The APCP includes on-the-job experience, addressing challenges currently facing the public service in a collaborative and stimulating learning environment. The program uses self-paced online courses and virtual instructor-led courses through the Canada School of Public Service, universities, industry vendors and SSC custom training.
Levels of certification
The APCP has three levels of certification. Applicants may apply to the level that aligns with their experience and career goals, and are not required to complete all three levels.
- Level 1: Associate Architect (estimated completion in 12–15 months)
- Level 2: Architect (estimated completion in up to 12 months)
- Level 3: Senior Architect (estimated completion in up to 12 months)
These timelines are approximate and may vary based on individual circumstances, operational needs or course availability. Participants should expect to dedicate at least 5–6 hours per week to program activities in addition to attending training courses.
The program also offers elective courses aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills. These additional courses are optional and are not included in the core timing requirements for completing each program level.
Industry standard certification
Through the APCP, participants will achieve an industry-standard The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) certification. TOGAF is a prominent enterprise architecture standard recognized by organizations throughout the world.
