SSC is keeping the Canadian Space Agency connected for the Artemis II mission

Canada is on the brink of a milestone.

Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jeremy Hansen is now on his way to becoming the first Canadian to travel around the Moon as part of the Artemis II mission. The CSA needed some help to set up their temporary command centre in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This is where Shared Services Canada’s (SSC) expertise comes in.

We are providing devices, such as cellular and satellite phones, as well as printing and Internet connectivity.

“When people are working hundreds of kilometres from the nearest tower, a satellite phone is more than a device—it’s peace of mind. Our team ensures that no matter where operations take them, they can reach help and stay linked to the support systems behind them. That dependable connection is our contribution to Canada’s mission.”

Mehran Shariatmadar, Director of Satellite Services, SSC

To protect sensitive mission information, we are also setting up enhanced security networks, ensuring all systems meet Government of Canada cyber security requirements.

Why are we doing this? It’s what we do! This mission continues a story of collaboration with the CSA that began long before Artemis II.

By keeping our CSA colleagues connected on the ground, our teams at Shared Services are proud to support Canada’s journey in space.
