As IT experts, we provide IT infrastructure and services that ensure Government of Canada (GC) organizations have reliable digital solutions for delivering services to Canadians. We do this by implementing enterprise solutions that maximize taxpayer value by adopting a whole-of-government approach to IT procurement. By consolidating purchases, negotiating bulk buys and ensuring consistent IT standards across departments, SSC reduces costs and increases efficiency. For example, SSC’s centralized procurement leverages economies of scale to secure GC-wide savings, including lower rates for cell phones, saving the GC approximately $25 million per year.
We work with our partners to maintain and improve the GC’s cyber and IT security posture and to protect departments and agencies against cyber-related threats. We modernize solutions to keep up with the fast-paced evolving digital landscape.

Canada’s largest IT-focused organization
As Canada’s largest IT-focused organization, we deliver critical digital infrastructure and connectivity services that support traditional office work, frontline service delivery, national security and defence operations. Our services enable border guards, scientists, park rangers, food inspectors, lighthouse keepers and Canadians in uniform to do their jobs. We proudly support over 400,000 Government of Canada workers—including employees, military members, police officers and more—across more than 145 federal organizations, connecting nearly 4,000 sites in Canada, 200 internationally, and even in space through our work with the Canadian Space Agency.
From safeguarding networks and vital data to blocking billions of cyber threats, SSC is the backbone of digital government. Our teams operate 24/7/365 to keep Canada’s systems connected, secure and responsive. We work closely with the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) to strengthen cyber security and protect critical systems—key pillars of Canada’s Digital Ambition.
