SSC delivers the digital infrastructure that federal departments and agencies rely on to provide services to Canadians. We manage and modernize government‑wide IT systems, including networks, data centres, cloud services, cyber security and workplace technology. Our work ensures that government services are reliable, secure and accessible—anytime and anywhere Canadians need them.
We lead major modernization efforts across government to replace aging systems and strengthen digital sovereignty. This includes standardizing devices and tools for public servants, modernizing telecommunications, expanding hybrid cloud hosting, and supporting the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence. By providing enterprise solutions, we reduce duplication, improve service consistency and deliver better value for Canadians.
Cyber security is central to our mandate. SSC helps to protect federal networks and information through advanced security technologies such as real‑time monitoring, zero‑trust architecture and security event management, and through preparations for future risks like quantum computing. These measures help to safeguard sensitive government systems and help maintain trust in digital government services.
SSC also supports departments in delivering high‑quality digital services to Canadians—from scientific research and environmental forecasting to national defence, emergency response and day‑to‑day operations across government. Through innovation, accessibility and sustainability, we are building a modern and resilient digital foundation that helps the Government of Canada serve Canadians today and in the future.

We are proud to deliver enterprise IT infrastructure and digital services to over 90 departments and agencies and support more than 145 federal organizations, including those critical to national security and defence.
Looking ahead, SSC is exploring opportunities to extend these services beyond the federal government to provinces and municipalities.
Common Government of Canada IT operations
We are an IT-focused organization delivering critical digital infrastructure and connectivity services that support office work, frontline service delivery, national security and defence operations. Our services enable workers such as border guards, scientists, park rangers, food inspectors, lighthouse keepers and Canadians in uniform to do their jobs. We connect over 400,000 Government of Canada workers—including military members, police officers and more—in nearly 4,000 sites in Canada, in 200 international locations, and even in space through our work with the Canadian Space Agency.
From safeguarding networks and vital data to blocking billions of cyber threats, SSC is the backbone of digital government. Our teams operate 24/7/365 to keep Canada’s systems connected, secure and responsive. We work closely with the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) to strengthen cyber security and protect critical systems—key pillars of Canada’s Digital Ambition.
