On September 3, 2026, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the launch of Digital Transformation Canada (DTC), a new federal organization with a clear mission: to use digital solutions to make it easier for Canadians to access the support and services they need from government. Patrick Pichette was appointed Chief Executive Officer of DTC effective September 9, 2026.

Patrick has over 30 years of financial and operating expertise leading world-class companies like Google, McKinsey, Sprint Canada and Bell Canada to break through the complexities of hyper-growth and digital transformations.

During his tenure as global Chief Financial Officer of Google from 2008 to 2015, Patrick played a leadership role in Google’s growth agenda and ultimately supported the creation of the Alphabet structure. As part of Google’s executive committee, he was involved in the company’s extensive corporate mergers and acquisitions agenda, engaging in close to 150 acquisitions, including Nest and Motorola.

In addition, Patrick has been an independent investor, advisor and board member to a number of startups and innovation networks around the world, including Arctoris, LabGenius and Creative Destruction Labs. He was also a director at Cohere, WealthSimple, Hopper and Neo4j, and served as Chair of Twitter’s Board of Directors prior to the sale of the company in 2022. In 2018, he joined Inovia Capital, a Montréal-based venture capital firm investing in promising Canadian tech companies, where he led its European office in London.

Patrick holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford, where he attended as a Rhodes Scholar, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
