Objective
- To deliver consistent and coordinated communications using multiple tools to deliver a coherent storyline about Shared Services Canada’s (SSC) activities to transform the Government of Canada’s information technology (IT) infrastructure.
Public environment highlights
- Since its creation in August 2011, SSC has received limited coverage in the media on its mission, goals, objectives and expected outcomes.
- Most coverage has been focussed in the National Capital Region, while broader national coverage followed an announcement, a crisis, or the release of information under Access to Information.
- In the last year, media coverage has centred on three main issues: SSC’s Email Transformation Initiative (ETI), late fees for cellular services and cyber security.
Key messages
- SSC is transforming, consolidating and standardizing how the Government manages its IT infrastructure.
- Particular emphasis is placed on email, data centres and telecommunications, as well as the procurement of hardware and software for workplace technology devices.
- The department is also developing a more integrated approach to cyber and Information Technology security, and improving service to our partners by aligning closely with the priorities of the Government of Canada.
- SSC is adopting a new way of doing business and adopting industry best practices with a specific focus on client service, where excellence in service and a transformation culture will be crucial to our success.
