June 29, 2016 - Ottawa, Ontario - Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman

The Taxpayers’ Ombudsman, Sherra Profit, held her first consultative committee meeting on June 21, 2016.

The meeting provided Committee members with an opportunity to exchange information, ideas and opinions about the services provided by the Canada Revenue Agency. Members will also provide feedback on ways to improve the visibility of the Ombudsman’s office and the effectiveness of its outreach activities.

The members of the Committee were identified from a broad array of sources to ensure a variety of expertise and perspectives.

The consultative committee was put in place as part of the Ombudsman’s commitment to broaden engagement and pursue dialogue with stakeholders.

  • The consultative committee provides an opportunity for ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and serves as a sounding board for the Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman’s (OTO) strategies, systemic examinations, outreach activities, and services.
  • The consultative committee meets four times a year. It includes tax lawyers, accountants, small business owners, and representatives from organizations concerned with citizen-centered service and groups facing service challenges when dealing with the CRA such as indigenous communities or people with disability.
