Update to Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy for 2020 to 2023
The Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) has committed to expanding and continually updating its Departmental Sustainable Development Strategy (DSDS) for 2020 to 2023 to incorporate new decisions, actions and targets.
Since it tabled its DSDS in October 2020, TBS has made the following changes to align with the updated Greening Government Strategy, which was released in November 2020:
- updated the Greening Government objective to reflect the strategy’s more ambitious and expanded commitments
- advanced the target date for achieving a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 2030 to 2025 for real property and conventional fleet
Greening Government: The Government of Canada will transition to net‑zero carbon and climate-resilient operations, while also reducing environmental impacts beyond carbon, including on waste, water and biodiversityFootnote i
