Awards, recognition and special events
Dedicated, professional, resourceful and hard-working are only a few words to describe federal public servants. Recognizing the contributions they make to the quality of life of Canadians helps the public service instill pride in its employees and distinguish itself as an employer of choice.
National Public Service Week
Since 1992, National Public Service Week has celebrated the work and achievements of the Public Service of Canada. It always takes place the third week in June. The women and men of the Public Service of Canada are among our most precious resources, and it is important that we recognize their accomplishments and the positive role they play in Canadian society.
Many events are scheduled across the country to build greater awareness among employees and the general public about the role of Canada’s public service. You will find details on what is happening in your region on this website. You may also check with your departmental coordinator for what is happening in your department or agency. It's our sincere hope that NPSW provides us all with the opportunity to celebrate our work, honour excellence in public service and show our pride in what we do for Canadians.
Public Service Award of Excellence
The Public Service Award of Excellence recognizes employees who have demonstrated excellence in achieving results for Canadians and who reflect the priorities of the public service, while demonstrating key leadership competencies.
The award is open to individuals and teams at all levels (other than the deputy minister level). The award is non-monetary, and recipients will be announced during National Public Service Week.
