Subject: Entry into force of the Modernized Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement
Summary
The modernized Free Trade Agreement Between Canada and Ukraine entered into force on July 1, 2024 (the 2024 Agreement). The previous Free Trade Agreement Between Canada and Ukraine (the 2017 Agreement) is recalled.
The 2024 Agreement incorporates the government procurement obligations from the 2017 Agreement. No adjustments to the existing procurement processes are required. Contracting authorities in all departments are encouraged to review Chapter 11 of the 2024 Agreement, titled “Government Procurement,” to become familiar with Canada’s obligations.
The thresholds in the 2024 Agreement have not changed from those in the 2017 Agreement, which are available at Contracting Policy Notice 2023-6.
