Departments and agencies in the Government of Canada are collaborating to address the priorities of the 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan. Read the progress made by the Government of Canada from August 2022 to March 2023 on the priority area of Strengthening 2SLGBTQI+ data and evidence-based policy making.
Women and Gender Equality Canada
- Approved research implementation plan for $7.7 million to support new community-led research, and to conduct new data collection and research to inform future 2SLGBTQI+ initiatives.
- Agreement signed between Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) and Statistics Canada to support the development of research projects related to 2SLGBTQI+ people in Canada.
- Release of intersectional data from the 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan survey.
- Call for Proposals for community-led policy research to be launched mid-September. Community-based research projects will combine knowledge creation and mobilization to inform future initiatives for social change to address inequalities, stigma, and discrimination experienced by 2SLGBTQI+ individuals and communities. Proposed projects will fall under one of the following five research themes: 1) Safety and justice; 2) Employment and the workplace; 3) Health and well-being; 4) Housing and homelessness; 5) Stigma, isolation, and resilience.
