Share your thoughts: Youth engagement on the second State of Youth Report

Current status: Closed

This consultation ran from November 25, 2024 to March 16, 2025.

Young people in Canada are the leaders of today and tomorrow. When they feel their voices are valued and are contributing to change, they are more likely to participate. The Government of Canada engaged youth between the ages of 16 and 29, encouraging them to share their voice in the second State of Youth Report, to be published in 2025.

The State of Youth Report helps us understand the challenges youth face, from finding jobs to accessing mental health support, and outline steps to create better opportunities for the future. The report is based on Canada’s Youth Policy, which reflects the importance of engaging with youth, the values of young people in Canada and represents a whole-of-government approach aimed at improving youth outcomes and involving young people in federal decision-making.

The first State of Youth Report was published in 2021. Since the report was published, young people in Canada have been navigating a world that has changed dramatically.

Next Steps

The insights gathered from youth between the ages of 16 and 29 living in Canada will inform the second State of Youth Report. By reflecting the diverse experiences and concerns of youth, the report will play a vital role in building a Canada that continues to support all young people.
