Marie Doyle | Associate Assistant Deputy Minister

Chief Professional Conduct and Culture

Ms. Marie Doyle joined the Department of National Defence in May 2021 as the first Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Professional Conduct and Culture.

Marie previously worked at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), where she served as acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Regional Operations, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) providing horizontal support across ISC sectors guiding the key policy work and community efforts to address COVID as well as support vaccine roll-out in Indigenous communities.

During her almost 20 year tenure with FNIHB, Marie served in many key leadership roles including as the Director General, Strategic Policy and the Regional Executive, Northern Region. As Director General, Marie provided strategic advice and led all health specific Memoranda to Cabinet, Budget and Treasury Board submissions for Indigenous Services Canada including working with key internal and external partners, as well as central agencies.  Marie also led partnership efforts with National Indigenous Partners for health specific priorities and national surveillance efforts and led ISC’s health transformation work in British Columbia and other key jurisdictions, including the establishment of a tri-funded (Inuit/Territorial/Federal) Nunavut Treatment Centre. 

As the Regional Executive, Northern Region from 2013 to 2019, Marie led program offices and developed engagement protocols and partnership approaches for collaboration with key territorial, First Nations and Inuit governments across the three territories. Marie also worked at the Manager and Director levels in mental health and substance and led key transformations in these areas with First Nations and Inuit partners. Prior to moving Ottawa in 2002 she lived in
Yellowknife and worked for the territorial government and not for profit sectors in adult literacy and family violence prevention.

Marie is a certified organizational coach (University of British Columbia) and is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario.
