Chief Warrant Officer D.A. Campbell, MMM, CD

Born in Montreal, Quebec, CWO Campbell enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1990 as an Aero Engine Technician. Upon graduation from the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering (CFSATE) in Borden, Ontario he was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake where he served as an Engine Technician in the CF-18 Propulsion Facility. In 1993 he was transferred to 416 Tactical Fighter Squadron in Cold Lake where he served in the Maintenance and Servicing organizations.

In 1997, he deployed with NATO to Aviano, Italy on Operation Deliberate Guard in support of CF-18 operations enforcing the no-fly zone over the Former Yugoslavia. Promoted to Master Corporal in January 2001 he spent the subsequent five years at 10 Field Technical Training Flight as a CF-18 maintenance instructor. In 2006 he was promoted to Sergeant and posted to 410 Tactical Operational Training Squadron as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Upon promotion to Warrant Officer in 2009 he was posted to the Canadian Forces Recruit School in Saint-Jean, Quebec where he served as a Recruit Platoon Commander and General Military Training Instructor.

In 2011, he completed both the NATO International Advanced Leadership Course in Lucerne, Switzerland as well as the Officer Professional Military Education Program (OPME).

Promoted to Master Warrant Officer in 2012, he was transferred to 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron in Edmonton, Alberta as the Senior Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent and Employment Training Officer. He deployed with Canada’s Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to Panay Island, Philippines as the Squadron Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Officer in December of 2013, as part of the Canadian Government’s response to Typhoon Haiyan.

In December of 2014, he was inducted into the Order of Military Merit.

In 2016 he was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) and posted as the School Chief Warrant Officer at the CFSATE, in Borden Ontario.

In September 2017, he was honoured to be selected as the parade CWO to accept and consecrate the RCAF’s new Queen’s Colour and RCAF Command Colour, only the third stand of Colours in RCAF history.

In 2018 he was appointed as the Wing Chief Warrant Officer at 14 Wing Greenwood.

CWO Campbell assumed the role of 1 Canadian Air Division/Canadian NORAD Region Chief Warrant Officer in 2021.

He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy in Montgomery, Alabama; the Strategic Security Studies Program at the Canadian Defence College in Toronto and holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Royal Roads University.
