Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Rachel Fox

Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Rachel Fox (née Rickard) enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Artillery Reservist with 56 Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery in 1990 and in 1993, she deployed with 2 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery to Op SNOWGOOSE, Cyprus. She moved to Edmonton, AB, in 1995 while remaining with the Reserves, and she earned her diploma at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Biological Sciences, Environmental.

In 2002, she component transferred to the Regular Force as a Water, Fuels and Environment Technician and upon completion of her basic trades training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, was posted to Comox, BC. During her time at 19 Wing, she was employed as a technician with Wing Construction Engineering (WCE), and she deployed to Fort Eureka, NU, CFS Alert, NU, and on several domestic operations across the country. In 2008, she deployed for six months on Op ATHENA where she was promoted to rank of Sergeant.

In 2009, CWO Fox was posted to 17 WCE as the Water, Fuels, and Environment Supervisor where she and her team dealt with 13 large water main breaks in one winter. She was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer in 2013 during her posting at Greenwood, NS, and assigned the position of 14 WCE Productions Officer and spent her last year in Greenwood as the 141 Construction Engineering (CE) Flight Warrant Officer.

Posted to CFB Petawawa, Ont., in 2015, she was the Base CE Operations Warrant Officer and acting Unit Master Warrant Officer (MWO) during the transformation from Construction Engineering to Real Properties Operations. She was promoted to the rank of MWO in November of 2016 and was moved to North Bay, Ont., where she was employed as the 22 WCE Flight MWO and completed her second language training in spring 2019.

CWO Fox was selected for the NCM Executive Professional Development Programme in 2019 where she completed a Certificate in General Military Studies from Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont. In 2020, moved to Ottawa as the Construction Engineering Career Manager Director at General Military Careers and was promoted to her current rank in December 2021. She was subsequently posted back to Winnipeg for the second time in 2022 as the 1 Canadian Air Division A4 Construction Engineering CWO and Senior Occupation Advisor for all the Construction Engineering Trades.

CWO Fox is honoured to be appointed as the 15 Wing Chief Warrant Officer in July 2023. Both she and her husband are avid Toronto Blue Jays fans and they enjoy staying physically fit and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
