When We Train
Since our ranks have a large proportion of students, the Reserve Force generally follows the school year.
September to May: Generally speaking, part-time work is done during this period. Most people work one evening per week and two weekends per month (more or less, depending on their availability).
May to August: Our members have the opportunity to work full-time. Trade courses are usually offered during this period.
Opportunities to work a full-time schedule year-round in the Reserve Force do exist, but the service of a reservist is based on part-time work, which makes it an excellent job for students and those who have civilian jobs but still wish to serve their country.

35 Service Battalion is a Primary Reserve unit of the Canadian Armed Forces. Its main role is to provide logistical support to the other units of the 35 Canadian Brigade Group, which are all located in the east of Quebec.
This support includes: logistics; vehicle and weapon maintenance; and transporting, providing, storing, handling and maintaining supplies, including ammunition, fuel, food, etc. All trades and tasks necessary to supporting combat operations are represented within the unit.
When you join our unit, you will receive competitive pay for your part time or full time work as well as be eligible for on the job training that could benefit you in civilian life. Also, there are medical, dental and educational benefits available to Army Reservists.

On 1 January 1965, six separate and independent units providing combat support services were merged under the name of 55 Canadian Service Battalion. On 31 March 2010, following a reorganization of 2nd Canadian Division, the battalion was given its current name: 35 Service Battalion.
The battalion members are proud of their traditions and their excellent work. They have supported numerous Regular Force and Reserve Force operations, particularly the ice storm and the floods in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. A number of members have also participated in overseas deployments such as the missions in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Haiti.
In 2015, 35 Svc Bn celebrated its 50th anniversary trouhghout an activity-filled year that gave the public a better understanding of 35 Svc Bn’s activities and achievements.
