Spotlight on Women Entrepreneurs

Vibration and temperature changes during the transportation of blood vials from the patient to blood analysis facilities can result in red blood cell hemolysis, which affects the accuracy of blood tests.

Motryx has developed a quality assurance technology to assist hospitals, laboratories and research institutions to monitor its blood transportation system without jeopardizing the blood samples.

CEO Dr. Franziska Broell, along with other researchers, discovered that vibration and temperature changes during the transportation of blood vials from the patient to blood analysis facilities can result in red blood cell hemolysis, which affects the accuracy of blood tests. This, in turn, results in lost time and increased costs for blood sample testing.

Motryx initially came to ACOA looking for support to refine its product design and manufacturing and the Agency has since supported subsequent projects to further develop and commercialize the technology.

In December 2020, Motryx announced its partnership with Aerocom, a global leader in installing pneumatic tube systems in hospitals. This agreement opens up Motryx’s market to 10 European countries and over 2,000 hospital installations.

The Government of Canada is proud to be a part of Franziska’s entrepreneurship journey. Funding through ACOA and the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy is helping Motryx Inc. boost production and pursue new market opportunities nationally and internationally.
