Potential Motors using AI to improve safety and performance in electric vehicles

Developing a competitive clean energy sector will strengthen the economy, create jobs, open up new market opportunities and build a sustainable future for all Canadians. That is why the Government of Canada is supporting Potential Motors, a Fredericton-based company specializing in next-generation technology for electric vehicles.

Innovative technology will improve safety and performance

René Arseneault, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages today announced an investment of more than $180,000 for Potential Motors. The company is developing an innovative artificial intelligence (AI) platform to take safety and performance in off-road electric vehicles to a new level. The funding will help Potential Motors bring its automotive technology to market.  

Parliamentary Secretary Arseneault made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.

The Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative energy initiatives that reduce pollution, create healthier communities and provide opportunities for economic development.

  • Fredericton-based Potential Motors is building a component of the next generation of smart automobiles.   

  • The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is providing a conditionally repayable contribution of $184,436 to Potential Motors. 

  • ACOA’s contribution is through the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.

  • Through the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, the Government of Canada committed to deliver on an ambitious national strategy to put more zero-emission vehicles on the road.
