New technology will improve productivity at Russell Industries

As the world continues to deal with the impact of COVID-19, companies are adapting operations and seeking new opportunities to stay on the cutting edge and spur growth. That is why the Government of Canada is investing in Russell Industries Corp. to help the company acquire new technology to scale-up and improve productivity.

New equipment will improve operations and create new jobs

Today, Wayne Long, Member of Parliament for Saint John-Rothesay, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA, announced a repayable contribution of $750,385 to Russell Industries to support the purchase of new innovative tank cleaning equipment.

The equipment will help the company reduce costs and manual labour involved in cleaning liquid petroleum tanks, improve safety and workflow, and create 10 new jobs at the Russell Industries-owned Allerion Oilfield Services facility in Saint John. 

Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to help businesses innovate and seize new opportunities to adapt and grow.

  • Allerion Oilfield Services is one of Canada's leading aboveground storage tank experts, specializing in the oil and petrochemical industries.

  • Allerion was purchased by Russell Industries in November of 2017.

  • The BLABO system is an automated oil tank cleaning system especially designed to clean large volume, difficult-to-clean crude oil, heavy fuel oil (HFO) and other black oil tanks.

  • Funding for this project is provided through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
