#FloodReady Communities

Find out what you can do to help!

Floods can occur in any region, at any time of the year. You and your community can play a crucial role in protecting your homes and families.

Here’s how to help your community be #FloodReady:

1. Understand the flood risks in your community

Familiarize yourself with historical floods in your area, and risk factors such as nearby waterways, drainage issues, and complaints of “wet basements”.

2. Share and discuss flood-readiness with your neighbours

Put flood readiness on the agenda of your next community association meeting.

Share #FloodReady information and resources on community social media, email lists, and other communications materials.

3. Ask about municipal government programs to prevent flood damage

Contact your municipal government to find out what educational or infrastructure programs exist to help your community be more #FloodReady.

4. Find out what residents can do to prevent flood damage
