From February 10 to 19, 2019, Canadian Heritage will embark on its second departmental trade mission, which will focus on Latin America, and more particularly Mexico, Colombia and Argentina.
More than 35 companies, from a range of creative industry sectors including music, film, television, visual effects, animation, gaming, museums, publishing and performing arts, will take part in the trade mission, along with portfolio organizations, funding agencies and industry associations, and a Government of Yukon representative.
In addition to advancing commercial opportunities in the creative industries, the mission will foster a greater understanding of the Latin American business environment, its opportunities and challenges and enhance government-to-government ties.
Additionally, it will serve as a platform for participating organizations to explore new business opportunities, advance ongoing projects, enhance collaboration within the creative industries, and advocate for Canadian creative industries.
Program and itinerary
The business delegation program for the mission will include business briefings, pre-arranged business-to-business meetings, networking events, site visits, giving export-ready small and medium-sized Canadian enterprises opportunities to explore trade and investment possibilities. The mission's itinerary includes Mexico City, Bogotá, and Buenos Aires.
Mission objectives
- Establish and build relationships with governmental counterparts and key multilateral organizations (i.e. Pacific Alliance States, Mercosur and Ibero-American States) in order to promote Canada as a partner in the creative industries, and advocate for the expertise and high quality of Canadian creative industries.
- Facilitate market entry for high-potential, export-ready small and medium-sized Canadian enterprises (SMEs) operating in the creative industries.
- Increase the visibility and profile of companies already established in the Latin American market.
