About the consultations
The Department of Canadian Heritage invites you to share your thoughts on “Regulations Respecting the Application of the Online News Act, the Duty to Notify and the Request for Exemptions” and on the Regulatory Impact Assessment Statement that describes the regulations and how they were developed. The proposed regulations give instructions to the CRTC as it implements the Online News Act.

Consultation focus
You are invited to share your thoughts on any section of the proposed regulations. The proposed regulations give the CRTC instructions on how it will implement the Online News Act, including regulations designed to:
- Clarify which platforms will be subject to the Online News Act
- Provide a timeline for the platforms to notify the CRTC of their applicability under the Online News Act
- Establish criteria to guide the CRTC’s decision about whether voluntary agreements between platforms and news businesses qualify for an exemption from mandatory bargaining and final offer arbitration
