OFF Festival des harmonies et orchestres symphoniques du Québec offers a musical welcome to spring in Sherbrooke

SHERBROOKE, April 20, 2018

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $48,600 in funding for the OFF Festival des harmonies et orchestres symphoniques du Québec.

The funding, provided under the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will make it possible to host the 15th annual OFF Festival. From May 3 to 27, 2018, music lovers will be able to enjoy to hundreds of free concerts at venues in Sherbrooke that include Promenade du Lac‑des‑Nations, restaurants, health centres and hospitals.

  • The OFF Festival and the Festival des harmonies et orchestres symphoniques du Québec are organized by the Corporation du printemps musical de Sherbrooke, a non-profit agency whose key mandate is to promote and develop local music activities and events.

  • Along with concerts at 10 Sherbrooke restaurants and on Promenade du Lac-des-Nations, the 15th OFF Festival will feature shows by Valaire and Tintamarre at La Petite Boîte Noire.

  • The festival, which runs from May 3 to 27, 2018, draws nearly 45,000 visitors each year and showcases the talent of 600 local artists.
