Electronic Music and Digital Art Take Montréal by Storm at the 19th MUTEK Festival

News release

MONTRÉAL, August 8, 2018

The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, today announced $55,000 in funding for the 19th MUTEK Festival, which is taking place in Montréal from August 22 to 26, 2018.

This support is being provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. Funding of $40,000 will help MUTEK offer audiences Montréal-based electronic music, digital art and original performances that meet the high standards of MUTEK Montréal.

The remaining $15,000 is for Keychange :: Amplify, a special project added this year to support the professional development of female electronic musicians and digital artists.

“In addition to highlighting the role of women in digital arts, MUTEK 2018 will treat visitors to a multitude of avant-garde electronic music and audio-visual shows—a must-see cultural event in the heart of Quartier des spectacles.”

—The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism

“This year, MUTEK is proud to raise the profile of women in digital arts and electronic music by hosting a lineup of outstanding Canadian female performers—rising stars on both the Montréal and international scenes.”

—Jennifer-Ann Weir, General Director, MUTEK
